GOALKEEPERS
TEAM FOUNDATION
hockey... flows in our blood!
Goalkeepers - Foundation of the Team
We also invite goalkeepers - players who play a key role in every field hockey team - to every summer camp of the Ziętara Hockey School. We know how unique and demanding their training needs are, so we have prepared a dedicated program for them, which supports both technical and mental development.
In this section we want to show what the work of a goalkeeper looks like at our camps and what opportunities for development await young adepts of this position. An individual approach, specialized training and the support of the best coaches guarantee that each goalkeeper will return from camp not only with new skills, but also with even more confidence and enthusiasm for the game.
Organization of goalkeepers'
work
at the camp
During the camp, each goalkeeper is assigned to their age group appropriate to the selected program. Training groups consist of 28-32 players, including a maximum of five goalkeepers of similar age and skill level.
Goalkeepers participate in the activities of their age group, taking part in all on-ice training and off-ice activities. In this way, they develop not only technical skills, but also integrate with the team and excellent cooperation on the ice.
In addition, there are special training classes for goalkeepers that are tailored to their unique needs and help develop key elements of their game.
Special classes for goalkeepers during camp
At Ziętara Hockey School, we understand very well what a demanding and crucial role in the team is the goalkeeper position.
Therefore, we have prepared a dedicated training program for our young adepts,
which develops technique, coordination, analytical skills and mental preparation.
Morning activities on ice
Each day, goalkeepers participate in special classes in an enclosed area of the rink, where they work for 30-45 minutes (depending on the camp and program) on:
- skating technique,
- stick work,
- goalkeeper-specific elements.
There are two goalkeeper coaches for the 5 goalkeepers, allowing for individual attention and careful analysis of each move. These classes are an integral part of the overall training on the ice.
1
Off-ice training dedicated to goalkeepers
During the camp, each goalkeeper group participates in three specialized off-ice activities that focus on:
- developing coordination,
- reflexes and reaction speed,
- body balance and footwork.
The classes are tailored to the age and skill level of the participants to maximize the effectiveness of the training.
2
Videoanalysis
Twice during the camp, goalkeepers are invited to a dedicated video analysis, where coaches discuss in detail the key elements of each player's game.
Together, areas for improvement are identified and the work methods that will yield the best results.
3
Mental training
During the camp, goalkeepers participate in two special mental training sessions. The focus is on:
- building self-confidence,
- coping with pressure,
- maintaining focus at key moments in the game.
4
Post-camp consultation
After the camp, each parent and player has the opportunity to talk individually with the goalkeeping coach in charge of the class.
This is an excellent opportunity to get detailed guidance for further work and discuss the player's progress.
5
Professional coaching for goalkeepers
Our coaching staff responsible for the development of goalkeepers are former or current goalkeepers who understand the needs and challenges of this key position on the team. With their experience and passion for field hockey, they are able to effectively support young players in improving their technical, mental and tactical skills.
Feel free to choose one of our camps and work together to develop your skills! See you on the ice!
