Goalkeepers – the team's foundation

Goalkeepers – players who play a key role in every hockey team – are also warmly invited to all Ziętara Hockey School holiday camps.
We know how unique and demanding their training needs are, which is why we have prepared a dedicated programme for them that supports both technical and mental development.
In this section, we want to show what the work of a goalkeeper looks like at our camps and what opportunities for development await young players aspiring to this position.
An individual approach, specialist training and support from the best coaches guarantee that every goalkeeper will return from the camp not only with new skills, but also with even greater confidence and enthusiasm for the game.
Organisation of work for goalkeepers at the camp
During the camp, each goalkeeper is assigned to their age group, appropriate for the selected programme.
Training groups consist of 28–32 players, including a maximum of 5 goalkeepers of similar age and skill level.
Goalkeepers participate in their age group's activities, taking part in all on-ice training sessions and off-ice activities. This allows them to develop not only their technical skills, but also to integrate with the team and develop excellent teamwork on the ice.
In addition, we have prepared special training sessions for goalkeepers, which are tailored to their unique needs and help develop key elements of their game.

Special sessions for goalkeepers during the camp
At the Ziętara Hockey School, we understand perfectly well how demanding and crucial the role of a goalkeeper is in a team. That is why we have prepared a dedicated training programme for our young players, which develops technique, coordination, analytical skills and mental preparation.
Morning on-ice sessions
Every day, goalkeepers participate in special sessions in a closed area of the ice rink, where for 30–45 minutes (depending on the camp and programme) they work on:
- skating technique,
- stick work,
- elements specific to goalkeepers.
There are two coaches available for five goalkeepers, which allows for an individual approach and thorough analysis of every movement. These sessions are an integral part of the overall on-ice training.
Off-ice training dedicated to goalkeepers
During the camp, each goalie group participates in three specialised off-ice sessions that focus on:
- developing coordination,
- reflexes and reaction speed,
- body balance and leg work.
Sessions are tailored to the age and skill level of participants, maximising training effectiveness.
Video analysis
Twice during the camp, goalkeepers are invited to a dedicated video analysis session, where coaches discuss in detail the key elements of each player's game.
Areas requiring improvement and working methods that will yield the best results are identified jointly.
Mental training
During the camp, goalkeepers participate in two special mental training sessions. We focus on:
- building self-confidence,
- coping with pressure,
- maintaining concentration at key moments of the game.
Consultations after the camp
After the camp, every parent and player has the opportunity to have an individual conversation with the goalkeeper coach who led the classes.
This is an excellent opportunity to obtain detailed guidance on further work and discuss the player's progress.
Professional coaching staff for goalkeepers
Our coaching staff responsible for the development of goalkeepers are former or current goalkeepers who perfectly understand the needs and challenges of this key position in the team.
Thanks to their experience and passion for hockey, they are able to effectively support young players in improving their technical, mental and tactical skills.
We invite you to choose one of our camps and work together to develop your skills! See you on the ice!
